Ring chime will only work on a 2 4 ghz network however ring chime does not need to be on the same network as ring doorbell or ring doorbell pro.
The 5 ghz band is generally less congested and offers better overall throughput so it s entirely plausible that a weak 5 ghz signal offer better performance than a strong 2 4 ghz signal especially if there are a lot of 2 4 ghz networks showing up.
The reality is that the ring pro or really any smart doorbell home security product etc is never going to need the extra bandwidth that the 5ghz band provides so 2 4ghz should be sufficient in most cases.
Also i did a little experimenting with my recently purchased ring chime pro it is wi fi 2 4 ghz and 5 ghz dual capable.
I remember seeing both of my ssid for 2 4 and 5 ghz.

On a ring support products page i found the 5 ghz band utilizes select channels through 36 and channel 165 which kind of implies that ring products can use all these channels.
However in addition to other more advanced features video doorbell pro and elite offer 5ghz connectivity.
I don t know of any ring settings in the pro doorbell that would stop or allow 5 ghz.
